Privacy Policy for You Are

This Privacy Policy describes how Intentional Labs (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our mobile application, You Are (the “Service”).

1. Information We Collect

We do not require an account, and we never send your name, email address, contacts, location, photos, or the content of your voice recordings off your device.

To understand how the app is used and to provide subscriptions, the app sends a limited amount of data off your device to the third-party processors described in Section 4. This data is pseudonymous — it is tied to a randomly generated identifier that we do not link to your real-world identity:

• App-usage analytics: Which screens you view and which features you use, tied only to a randomly generated identifier.
• A device or app-instance identifier: A random ID used to group your analytics events and to deliver and restore your subscription. It is not your hardware serial number, but because it is persistent it may be considered personal data under some laws.
• Purchase history: When you start a trial or buy a subscription, our payments processor records the product, transaction status, and related subscription data so we can grant and restore access.
• Diagnostics: Basic performance and crash information used to keep the app stable.

This data is collected over time (not just in real time) and is required to operate the app — it cannot be turned off from within the app. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell or share it with data brokers or advertising partners.

2. Data Stored Locally

The following data is stored locally on your device:

• Affirmation History: A log of affirmations you have viewed, saved, or marked as favorites, used to power your personal feed and history.
• Collections & Custom Affirmations: Any affirmation collections you create and any custom affirmations you write are stored solely on your device.
• Streaks & Progress: Your streak count and session activity, used only to display your progress within the app.
• Preferences: App settings such as your name, gender identity, muted words, selected topics, notification times, theme selection, and dark mode preference.
• Voice Recordings: Any affirmations you record in your own voice are stored solely on your device and are never uploaded to us or any third party.
• No Account Required: You do not need to create an account or provide an email address to use the app.

This locally stored data is never transmitted off your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

3. Permissions

The app may request the following permissions:

• Post Notifications: Used to schedule local daily affirmation reminder notifications on your device. Notification content is generated entirely on-device and no data is transmitted to external servers.
• Boot Completed: Used to reschedule your daily reminders after a device restart, so they continue working without needing to open the app.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party processors, who handle data only on our behalf:

• PostHog — anonymous product analytics and diagnostics. Used to understand which features are used and to monitor app stability. PostHog receives your analytics events and the random identifier described in Section 1. See PostHog’s Privacy Policy.
• Adapty — subscription and in-app purchase management. Used to process your trial or subscription, deliver entitlements, and restore purchases. Adapty receives purchase data and a device or app-instance identifier. See Adapty’s Privacy Policy.

These providers act as data processors and do not use your data for their own advertising or sell it. Payment itself is handled by Google Play; we never see or store your card details.

All data transmitted off your device is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).

5. Children’s Privacy

Our Service is not directed to anyone under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, please contact us at the address in Section 8 and we will take reasonable steps to delete the associated data.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Data stored locally on your device (Section 2) is deleted whenever you uninstall the app.

For the limited analytics and purchase data held by our processors (Section 4): you can request deletion at any time by emailing us at the address in Section 8. Because we do not maintain accounts, we identify your data only by the random device or app-instance identifier — please include it in your request (it is shown in the app). If you cannot provide this identifier, we may be unable to locate your specific data. Analytics data is otherwise retained for no longer than necessary to operate the Service.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Last Updated” date above. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
